Driving about 30 minutes south west of Prague we will come to an attractive landscape characterized by its forested hills and deep valleys formed by the river Berounka.
Having climbed half way up a rather steep hill through the Karlstein village we shall be rewarded with a stunning view of this former royal castle that was to provide a safe shelter for the imperial crown jewels. It was commissioned by Charles IV who undertook a great effort to give a strong spiritual meaning to its rare high gothic interiors. Please enquire about the possibility of tour II. (limited access for its rarely preserved 14th century interiors).
Note that this tour can be combined with Konopiste Castle, or can be done as a cycling tour from the centre of Prague. Please check “Cycling Tours”
